A lot of the earliest Yugioh cards were basically just digitally colored versions of Kazuki Takahashi’s manga lineart , and they used early versions of Photoshop. I still have 20 year old presets like default brushes from back then, so I used a combination of default airbrush & “chalk” brushes from photoshop 7 or so, then used the old default filters like “Radial Blur” which can do spins & zooms. Those “legacy” filters all look a bit cheesy now but they were the cutting edge tech at the time. I wanted it to look authentic, so I tried to use the same techniques they would have used.
